Assignment 1 Who you are matters

Where do I come from?

I come from Pasadena California, born in the same hospital that my father was.

Where am I going?

I am going on the journey of life, trying to find my own path and live the best life I can.

How do I plan to get there?

I plan on getting there by using the people and resources that I have been gifted in life, whether it be my parents or those surrounding me in college.

How Am I like my parents?

I am hardworking just like both of my parents and show great dedication to family just like they do.

How am I unlike my parents?

My parents like to approach things in a different way then me. I am more head on.

Have you developed you own expectations for yourself, or if you were honest, would you say you're operating under someone else's expectations?

I have had high expectations for myself ever since I was little. My parents have always thought highly of me which has pushed me to do better and believe that I can do better.

Who other that a relative, serves as a model for you of someone who lives life with great passion and personal responsibility?

Spiderman serves as a model to me. He serves his community with passion.

Connection with the Animal World: what wild animal do you feel a special connection with and why?

I feel a strong connection with the bald eagle. As it is a majestic animal I believe I too am majestic.

Connecting with the Nature Kingdoms: describe a significant childhood encounter with a tree or plant?

I've always loved the trees in Sequoia national park. It makes you realize how insignificant we are in life when compared to how large they are.

    Many of my friends are from Pasadena and I love the city, a beautiful area. I haven't been to Sequoia yet, but I've heard so much about it. I've always wanted to experience the size of the trees and can't wait to go one day

Book 1 Blog 1

Alex Balian For my Book 1 selection, I chose   Putting the Rabbit in the Hat   by Brian Cox. As a fan of the TV show Succession , I was drawn to take a look at Cox’s blend of storytelling, insights into the acting world, and personal reflections on his life. His recent portrayal of Logan Roy in   Succession (which has climbed its way up into one of my favorite shows of all time)   initially piqued my interest, and I was curious to learn more about his long and seemingly interesting career. The title of the book itself hints at the craft and magic behind his performances, which made me eager to explore how his personal experiences have influenced the characters he has brought to life on screen.
